OEA Jeddah

Jeddah is a Saudi Arabian city located on the coast of the Red Sea. It is the major urban centre in western Saudi Arabia, the largest in the Western Province, and the second largest city in Saudi Arabia after the capital city Riyadh. The population of the city currently stands at over 3.4 million. It is considered as the commercial capital of Saudi Arabia and the wealthiest city in Middle East and western Asia.

The Old City with its traditional multi-storey buildings and merchant houses has lost ground to more modern development. However, the city's recent generations have come to appreciate its traditions more, and many of the older buildings have been carefully preserved. The city has several popular private beaches, including Durrat Al-Arus, Crystal Resort, FAL, Al Remal, Shums, Bait Albahar, Salhia, Sheraton Abhur, Al Nakheel Village and many other splendid resorts. Many are renowned for their Red Sea marine life and offshore coral reefs.

Jeddah is served by King Abdulaziz International Airport, aswell as Jeddah Seaport which is the 30th largest seaport in the world (2004) handling the majority of Saudi Arabia's commercial movement.
